Brookwood trio sign letters-of-intent

THOMASVILLE - A trio of Brookwood athletes signed letters-of-intent on Wednesday and will continue their athletic careers at the next level.

Destin Moore signed to play football at Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in Lexington, Virginia. Tyler Cleveland signed to play football at The University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. Ava Cauley signed to with Auburn University to be a member of the clay shooting club.

“Tyler stayed positive when others would have quit."

His GPA, character and football skills created an amazing opportunity,” Brookwood football coach and athletic director Shane Boggs said. “Ava is a classic example of someone that identified a passion and made sacrifices to be great. It has been fun to watch her pursue her passion.

“And, most people know about all the records Destin has broken in his time at Brookwood. Those records are a product of not only his talent but the team he has played with in his career. Destin has the ability to do great things at VMI. What an amazing opportunity for him.”

Moore was a standout wide receiver and defensive back for the Warriors football team, earning all-region and all-state honors the past two seasons. He set the school record for receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in a single season. Moore has also excelled in track and field. He will look to defend his title as state champion in the 100- and 200-meter dash this spring.

Cleveland signed despite being sidelined his senior year because of an ACL injury. He was a member of the school’s 4x100 relay team that set a school record in 2022. He also won region in his weight class for powerlifting.

Cauley’s accolades at Brookwood include the GISA Class 3-A state championship, NSCA All-American and All-State selections.
