Welcome to the Roman Empire

Thomasville Times-Enterprise, Staff Report
THOMASVILLE - Brookwood School’s sixth grade students studied the Roman Empire in their ancient civilizations class taught by Mrs. Dana Oebel. Content included an indepth look at the Roman army and gladiators, as well as the advancements that Romans made in architecture, technology and literature. As a hands-on learning experience, students were tasked with making advertisement posters to recruit for the Roman Army. To give students an insight into the fall of the Roman Empire, they each played a role in an abbreviated version of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. Students rehearsed their lines for several weeks and presented the abbreviated play to various Middle and Upper School classes in Hines-Watt Hall.
