“He had a great tennis career at Brookwood,” Harrison said. “I’m super proud of him… he’s been a leader for all four years for us. I mean, he plays soccer and runs track, but tennis is his primary sport.”
Brunson is also the valedictorian for Brookwood this year.
The boys’ team also won the overall region title, and Harrison was named Region Coach of the Year.
Going into this season, Harrison expected it to be a rebuilding year, but he is happy with how strong the team has finished the season.
“This was a rebuilding year for both the boys and girls,” Harrison said. “We graduated five senior boys last year, so I knew we would have challenges, but this has really exceeded my expectations.
“Mason and Madison are our strongest players, and certainly led the charge. The rest of the team got better as the season went along.”
Harrison had similar expectations for the girls’ team, mentioning how his best players were freshmen and sophomore this year.
Overall, Harrison is excited about the future of the team.
“I think the future’s really bright going forward,” he said. “It played out to be a rebuilding year for us, we got some good experience and we won some matches.”
At the GIAA Team Championships, Brookwood fell to William & Reed in the semifinal round after getting past Terrell.
