THOMASVILLE, GA -- On Wednesday, October 15, 2026, Brookwood’s Upper School students and faculty swapped their traditional classroom schedules for work gloves and pure Warrior spirit during our annual Service Day. True to Brookwood’s mission of shaping impactful leaders, students spent the day tackling hands-on projects to make a direct difference across the Thomasville community.
From tearing down an old fence at the Thomasville History Center to helping remove a worn-out swing set at a neighborhood house, students jumped into heavy lifting with enthusiasm. At Hands On Thomas County (HOTC), volunteers moved supplies to the activity center, set up site boxes, and started packing them, while others sorted and packed food at Second Harvest to combat local hunger. The Warriors also spread cheer by visiting Oak Grove Nursing Home for bingo and crafts, delivering "pumpkins of appreciation" throughout the surrounding Brookwood neighborhood, and refreshing signs for the upcoming Fall Festival. Meanwhile, seniors stayed on campus to bond with their first-grade buddies while learning about fire safety.
As Upper School faculty member Amy Stalvey shared, “Brookwood focuses on being a ‘Community Building Leaders’ and one of the most important components of being a leader is serving others. Serving others provides an opportunity to put others before yourself.” Building on the success of past service initiatives, Brookwood students once again exemplified what it truly means to lead through action, serve selflessly, and educate the whole child.
Located in Thomasville, GA, Brookwood School is a private school for grades JK-12. Students benefit from a challenging academic program, fine and performing arts, competitive athletics, and a wide selection of extracurricular activities.
