Fifth Graders Honor Colonial Heritage at Annual Patriot’s Day
Brookwood School’s fifth graders stepped back in time for their highly anticipated Patriot’s Day celebration.
The morning began with a warm welcome as students hosted parents for Morning Tea in Chubb Hall. Dressed in period attire, the Patriots introduced themselves, mingled with families, and performed a traditional colonial dance. From there, the group moved to the football field for a Militia Reenactment and Black Powder Weapon Demonstration. With wooden rifles in hand, students practiced formation drills and learned about the role of militia members during the Revolutionary era.
While many daytime activities are shared openly, most of Patriot’s Day remains a treasured surprise kept confidential so younger Brookwood students may one day experience the same excitement for themselves. Patriot’s Day continues to be a meaningful blend of learning and tradition at Brookwood that offers students a greater understanding of America’s early history and a memorable rite of passage in the fifth grade year.
Located in Thomasville, GA, Brookwood School is a private school for grades JK-12. Students benefit from a challenging academic program, fine and performing arts, competitive athletics, and a wide selection of extracurricular activities.
