Strong showing from all local teams at the Yellow Jacket Invitational

THOMASVILLE – Thomas County Central held their only home cross country meet of the year; the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday morning.
Central, Brookwood, Thomasville and Cairo all participated in the meet, where each team had strong performances.
The girls started out the morning where Marigrace Garcia-Simmons of Southwest Georgia Academy was the class of the field winning the individual title with a time of 20:42.
Ava McGarrah of Cairo finished second at 23:05 and then Central’s Emma Grace Vealey placed third at a time of 23:23.
Another Syrupmaker placed in the top five as Paola Gomez-Ochoa finished fifth with a time of 24:12.
The next highest finisher for the Lady Jackets was Kenley Reneau who crossed the line sixth at 24:43. Right behind her was Brookwood’s Olivia Mizell with a time of 24:49.
The final Central runner to place in the top ten was Arizona Siddell who came in ninth with a mark of 24:57.
The highest finisher for Thomasville was Martha Edwards at a time of 27:11.
As a team, Central won on the girls side while Cairo placed third.
