Brookwood boys undefeated on the hardwood

THOMASVILLE – Brookwood’s boys basketball team is undefeated heading into Thanksgiving break.

Nate VanDuyne’s first couple of weeks as head coach resulted in a 5-0 start. The Warriors’ undefeated start included a pair of wins over Baker County and single victories over Jefferson County (Fla.), Highland Christian Academy and Community Leadership Academy.

Brookwood defeated Baker County in back-to-back wins over Baker County on Monday and Tuesday. The Warriors won the first game 56-31 and the second game 48-44. Brookwood actually trailed late in the game on Tuesday by three points but finished the game on a 7-0 run.

William Harrell paced the Warriors on Tuesday with 16 points, while teammate Byrdie Bryan tallied 13. Harrell was also an offensive leader in Monday’s win, scoring 32 points. Walker Jackson and Shep Davis led the team in rebounding.

Jackson led the Warriors with an all around great effort in the team’s 52-46 win over Jefferson County on Nov. 17. He scored 17 points, snatched 14 rebounds and blocked seven shots.

Brookwood will return to the hardwood on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Jefferson County.
