THOMASVILLE — The Brookwood Warriors capped off an exciting Homecoming week with a 41-19 victory over the Pataula Charter Academy Panthers on Friday night. The Warriors jumped on the board early as Jack Tyson took it 27 yards to the house. John Tinney then attempted the extra point, putting Brookwood up 7-0 with 8:14 left in the first quarter. The Panthers were quick to respond as Omarien Robinson completed a 47-yard touchdown pass to Gentry Everson to tie up the game at 7-7. On the ensuing drive, the Warriors would take the lead and never look back. Brookwood found themselves at first and goal from the five, but were stalled by the Panthers’ defense. On 2nd and goal from the 4, Tyson rushed it in for a 4-yard touchdown, ending the first quarter 14-7. The Warriors would start the 2nd quarter full steam ahead. After marching down the field, Brookwood found itself back at first and goal from the seven-yard line. After being stalled on 2nd and goal,
Tyson connected with Roscoe Jones Jr. for a 6-yard touchdown pass to take a 21-7 lead with 11:07 left to go in the half.

Minutes later, Tyson would connect with Jordyn Jean on a 13-yard touch- down pass to take the lead to 28-7.
The Warriors would look to score one final time in the half as Landon Huber rushed for 8 yards for a touch-down. The extra point attempt failed, with Brookwood carrying a 34-7 lead at halftime. Coming out of the half, the Warriors did not let off the gas. Tyson immediately went to work after Brookwood put together a drive, allowing him to walk into the end zone on a 1-yard rushing touchdown, giving the team a massive 41-7 lead and beginning a running clock. However, the Panthers came out of the half with renewed energy too. After finding themselves on the 1-yard line, Josiah Allen carried it in for a Panthers touchdown. The team opted for a two-point conversion, but fell short, trailing 41-13. Minutes later, Allen would find the end zone again on a 17-yard rushing touchdown. The Panthers would try once more for a 2-point conversion, but were held off by the Warriors’ defense, ending the game 41-19. Brookwood Head Coach Jason Hurst was proud of his team, who
worked together to put forth a solid win in front of a huge home crowd. “Tonight was a total team effort,” he
said. “We played with great energy and effort; we got contributions from so many different guys that we were able to spread the ball around.” Hurst commended the defense. “The defense played hard,” he said. “I’m just really proud of these guys.” Hurst said since the team’s challenging loss to Baconton, they have focused on executing plays well and not changing week to week based on other teams. “We want to focus on what we do
and not get caught trying to adjust to what the other team is doing,” he said. “We want it to be us against us and be good at what we do.”

Since their loss, the Warriors have gone 2-0 and are looking to pick up another win on the road on Friday night as they face Rocky Bayou Christian in Niceville, Fla. As the team heads to Niceville, Hurst is looking for his team to clean up penalties and work on ball security. He believes if they can do that, the game should be one to watch. “I think it’s going to be a really good game,” Hurst said. “It could be a dogfight.”

The game will begin at 7 p.m.
