THOMASVILLE– The Brookwood Warriors began their playoff run with a stellar 10-0 win over Lakeview Academy on Wednesday night.
The two teams were deadlocked for the first 15 minutes, until Harrison Chapura connected with a strike from just outside the box for the first goal of the game.
Four minutes later, Chapura found the back of the net again to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.
Brookwood continued to pack on the pressure as a foul from a few feet outside setup a free kick for the Warriors. Will Stevens sent it in, and the ball deflected off the post. However, Kenji Sun got to the deflection and got it to go.
Next, in the 23rd minute, a foul in the box brought Chapura up for a penalty kick, and the senior got it by the keeper for the first half hat-trick.
Chapura added another goal in the 34th minute on a header from a well-placed pass from Peter DeSantis. Later in the 37th minute, Chapura tacked on one more goal to put the Warriors ahead 6-0 at the half.
Brookwood kept their foot on the gas in the second half, getting on the board again in the 49th minute on another goal from Chapura.
Chapura would score a total of three more times to force the mercy rule, as the Warriors won 10-0.
Brookwood will host the semifinal round, as they play against St. Andrew’s on Saturday, May 23rd with a spot in the championship game on the line.
