Brookwood Boys and Girls Soccer Looking Strong in Latter Half

THOMASVILLE – The Brookwood Warriors are continuing to gain momentum going into the final games of the regular season.  

Currently, the girls’ team is 5-5 and is second in the region with a 3-1 record against region opponents. After a tough start to the year, which saw them go 1-4 in their first five games, the Warriors have bounced back, winning four out of their last five. Picking up a pair of region wins against Tiftarea and Deerfield-Windsor.  

Eighth grader Kami Sun is currently leading the team in goals with six; behind her with three are Georgia Rieck and Klaire VonHellens. Then Dylan Simmons, Sims Wetherbee, and Pierce Garland all have two.

In their most recent game, the Warriors defeated Sherwood Christian Academy 1-0. Simmons scored the only goal in the victory.  

For the boys, who are coming off an appearance in the State Championship game, are trending towards a return to the title game. After a loss against Frederica to start the year, the Warriors have gone on a tear, winning six of their last seven matches.  

Senior Harrison Chapura is already on pace to match his season goal total of 26 from last season, already scoring 19 goals, placing him second in the GIAA. Right behind him is Kenji Sun with 10, followed by John Tinney and Peter DeSantis with three goals.

Brookwood currently sits at 6-2 with a 2-0 record in region play.  The next match for both the boys and girls will be on Monday, April 6th, at home against Atkinson County. The girls will play at 5:00 p.m. followed by the boys at 7:00 p.m.
