THOMASVILLE — Brookwood’s girls basketball team will be under new leadership beginning with the 2018-19 season, with the Warriors naming Todd Webb as the new head coach of the team on Wednesday. Webb is a native of Kentucky, and is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with bachelors’ and masters’ degrees in Physical Education. He has spent the last four seasons in his home state as the head coach of Hopkins County Central High School’s girls basketball team. In his first season at the helm, his team won 20 games, and in 2017, Hopkins County won its first district title in 11 years.
Prior to his most recent post, Webb held three other coaching positions around Kentucky. He’s also spent time coaching with Kentucky Primer, an Nike Girls EYBL travel team, where he helped develop college talent.
“Coach Webb has been a difference maker in multiple programs in the state of Kentucky,” Brookwood athletic director Shane Boggs said in a press release. “His career began as an assistant under a hall of fame coachand then he went on to achieve great success as a head coach in twoprograms over an eight year period. I see that success being a product of his love for the game, a thorough plan, and consistent execution of that plan.”
It doesn’t look like Webb will have to rebuild the Warriors like he’s rebuilt other teams in the past. Brookwood has been at the doorstep of the GISA Region 3-3A championship for the last two seasons, finishing as runners- up each time. With a lot of key returners, they’ll be looking to take their recent success one step further in Webb’s first season at the reins.
