Brookwood's region schedule continues

Clint Thompson - TTE
THOMASVILLE – Two games into their region season, two impressive wins for the Brookwood Warriors. First a 39-29 win over Deerfield- Windsor. It was followed by last week's impressive 57-14 rout of Southland Academy.

The Warriors are peaking at just the right time ahead of Friday's home game with Tiftarea Academy.

“I'm excited about the improvement we've shown. I feel like certainly we've improved after the last four games. We've improved every week,” Brookwood coach Shane Boggs said. “Some of the same guys are making the plays every week, but then week after week we'll have new guys that are starting to get more confidence and really impact the game in a positive way. I definitely think we need to continue to get better but I'm excited about where we're going right now.”

The Warriors are also getting healthier which has been a huge plus the second half of the season.

“It's definitely helped getting Isiah (Hill) back and Simon (Hilson) back. We were without Chapman Wolsfelt this week. We held him out as a precaution with an ankle sprain,” Boggs said. “That's definitely been helpful to get more of our guys healthy. Getting Isaiah back and Simon back really helps our team speed.”

Brookwood's ability to light up the scoreboard has led to success this year. The Warriors are averaging 47 points in their four wins.

Brookwood scored on seven out of nine possessions against Southland.

It will need to score points against a Tiftarea team that can score touchdowns just as well.

“I think what jumps out at you is how good they are on offense. I think the record can be misleading some times, but they're really a top notch offensive football team,” Boggs said. “We scouted them against Valwood and I thought they did a great job of bringing balance. They were really able to run the football and throw it around. They did a great job with their play-action game and finding shot plays. The quarterback does a great job of not just throwing it but he runs it well. It'll be a tremendous challenge for our defense.”
