Tennis Boys & Girls Win over Valwood

Brookwood Tennis secured its place in the driver seat at the top of the AAA-3 Region for both Boys and Girls Tennis. Thursday saw two big wins over Valwood at Glen Arven, which should lock up the number one seed in the region going into the last couple weeks of regular season play. 

The Warrior boys stayed undefeated on the season winning all lines. There was a little drama with  3rd set tie breaks at #1 Singles with Nic Kadel winning 4-6, 6-4, 10-5. At #2 singles, Dallas Forsyth winning fell behind early but came back to win 0-6, 6-3, 10-6.  Kadel and Forsyth's gritty performances inspired the Warriors to the win. Taylor Huffman cruised at #3 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 decision. In doubles play, #1 team of Bradley Merschman and Alden Harrison in short order 6-1, 6-0.
 
On the girls side, it was an even closer finish. Abby Lee and Emma Szwarc continued their great play winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 and 6-4, 6-0 at #1 and #2 Singles play. Brookwood dropped both doubles play matches with to tough Valwood teams. With the match tied at 2 wins each, the deciding moment was at  #3 singles where Lexi Taylor won a long and tough match 7-6, 6-1.  This match took almost an hour and half to complete with extremely long points. Taylor's calm under pressure proved key.
