Warrior Basketball Sweeps Brooks County

Brookwood Basketball swept Brooks County High School Saturday night on the road in Quitman.

The Lady Warriors took the first game of the night by a final score of 68-58. After trailing in parts of the 1st Half, the Lady Warriors press started to wear down the Lady Trojans for a big surge right before the halftime. The Lady Warriors separated late, protecting the ball and making free throws down the stretch to secure the win. Christy James had 7 rebounds, Holland Walker led with 4 steals, Walker and Mollie Vick both dished out 6 assists, and Ella Grace Squires blocked 3 shots.

In Boys action, the Warriors overcame the loss of All-Region guard JP Chapman to injury Friday night and rallied in a quick turnaround. A slow start while trying to find their footing without Chapman, a 3-year starter, led to a 7-point deficit at the end of the 1st Quarter. From there, the Warriors looked inside and scored in the paint. Jacob Hilson scored a career-high 21 points and Sam Barrett added 13. Harrison Owens led with 6 assists. A trapping Warrior defense held Brooks County to just 10 points after halftime in the 46-33 win.
