A group of Brookwood Upper School students and faculty recently traveled to Paris, Switzerland, and Munich. This 11-day experience offered a rich blend of history and culture for the 10 students.
In Paris, students walked in the footsteps of Enlightenment thinkers and artists, trying their hand at the classic game of pétanque and enjoying a Moulin Rouge show in Montmartre. Guided tours gave context to iconic landmarks with visits to the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Palace of Versailles, where students took a scenic bike ride through its expansive gardens.
The group then traveled by train to the Swiss Alps, taking in the charm of Bern and Engelberg before ascending Mount Pilatus for panoramic views of the countryside. A stop in Lucerne and an evening Alpine Hut dinner complete with Alpenhorn lessons gave students a taste of authentic Swiss culture.
In the final leg of the trip, students explored Bavaria and Austria, visiting Neuschwanstein Castle, the Sound of Music landmarks in Salzburg, and the historic Hallein Salt Mine. The trip concluded in Munich with sightseeing highlights including the famous Glockenspiel, the Viktualienmarkt, and river surfing in the Englischer Garten.
This annual international program gives Brookwood students the opportunity to broaden their worldviews, deepen friendships, and develop a greater appreciation for global history and culture.
