Brookwood soccer seeking first state title in program history

“We’ve been playing really well this year I think it’s cool we’ve made it this far and have the chance to do what’s never happened,” expressed Harrison Chapura who scored the game winning goal in the Warriors semifinals meeting against St. Andrew’s.

The Warriors found themselves in a 1-nil hole against the Lions. Playing from behind, nowhere near in the game plan for Wednesday.

“We have to start well. If we start slow with a team like Westminster, we’ll get punished,” said head coach Jake Chambers.

Some would call it doing the unthinkable, taking down a team in search of their third consecutive title. The Wildcats enter their fourth straight title game scoring 103 goals, allowing just 13 – and none over the playoffs. With momentum and experience on their side a complete performance is needed to bring the trophy back to the Rose City.

“We have to start well defensively. Aggressive pressure on the ball you know play with purpose we can’t get caught sleeping,” said Chambers.

Chapura leads the teams with 26 goals, accounting for nearly half the teams goals this season. While the Warriors will lean heavily on his leg and leadership, coach believes their bond is what got them this far and will play a big role in bringing home the program’s first title.

“It’s a team full of characters. It’s a very close team there’s no cliques it’s one big group it’s a family,” expressed coach.

Kickoff is set for 5:00pm at Stratford Academy in Macon on Wednesday, May 28th.
