Brookwood inducts first students into Spanish Honor Society

Brookwood has 37 inductees into Spanish Honor Society.
Brookwood School inducted its first class of students into the Antonio De Nebrija Chapter of the the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) — the Spanish Honor Society. The ceremony took place on campus on Thursday, Oct. 19.
Kandra Miller, a Spanish teacher and the society’s sponsor, said she was thrilled that the school would now have a way to celebrate her deserving students, who will now have access to more opportunities to learn and to serve. To be eligible for membership in the SHH, students must be actively enrolled in an upper- level Spanish class and have maintained a 90 percent grade point average in the study of Spanish for at least three semesters. Transfer students must have spent one full semester in the program at Brookwood to be eligible. Inductees must hold an overall GPA of 85 percent or higher and must demonstrate character, leadership, seriousness of purpose, cooperation, honesty, service and commitment to others.
This year’s inductees include seniors Carson Allen, Daniel Atkinson, Mazie Barrett, JordonBrinkley, Curry Brinson, Tyler Clark, Thomas Harrison, Marshall Jones, Dara Moore, Madelyn Murphy Trenton Newman, Thomas Oppenheim, Will Saunders, Natalie Tyler and Preston Young.
Junior inductees are Brianna Beach, Crichton Bryan, Abigail Chapman, Taylor Culpepper, Cricket Daniel, Evans Dodys, Michaela Falconer, Ellie Harrer, Audrey Johnson, Julia Johnson, Bridger Middleton, Peyton Middleton, Joe Parker, Sally Patterson, Raleigh Rollins, Jason Simmons, Anna Stencel, Jordan Thompson, Caroline Wolff, Lance Wortman and Vincent Yokley “My desire is for students to appreciate all that the Hispanic community offers,” Miller said. “They will have the opportunity to use their language skills in real-life settings — especially in service to others — and to understand the value of speaking more than one language.”
