Trailing late in the first half to Terrell 6-0, a defensive battle was well underway in Dawson on Friday night. A fumbled snap by Terrell's quarterback, deep in their own territory, allowed an opportunistic Warrior defense to get the visitors on the board by a Safety before halftime. The two teams headed to the lockerroom with Brookwood trailing by an unfamiliar score of 6-2.

Coach Shane Boggs and the offense made multiple halftime adjustments that led to a decisive third quarter and more productive second half offensively.

"It was a gritty performance that resulted in a win. The defense kept us in the game early. We dominated in all three phases in the third quarter" Coach Boggs noted afterward.

A 25-yard touchdown pass from Joe Parker to Lance Wortman put the Warriors in front, a 9-6 lead they would not give back. On the ensuing Eagle drive, a bad snap on the punt led to another Warrior safety and an 11-6 Warrior advantage.

Early in the fourth quarter, Hill Turner punched in his second rushing touchdown of the season for a commanding 18-6 lead. After an Eagle touchdown to respond and make it 18-12, the offense got the ball back with 7:36 to go in the game. In need of a big drive, the Offense marched down the field on a clock-eating drive. Finished off by a Johnathan Burns made field goal, the Warriors took a 21-12 lead. Preston Young's interception with 2:52 to go sealed the win.

The team was originally to host Lafayette High (Mayo, FL) on Friday for the home-opener. Due to field conditions, the game has been moved to Lafayette. Coach Boggs is looking forward to a good week of practice and preparation, noting "We will need to eliminate mistakes to beat a very good Lafayette team this week."
