Brookwood School Announces Two National Merit Semifinalists
Brookwood School is proud to announce that two members of the Class of 2025, Emma Rhodes and Ben Watts, have been named Semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. This prestigious recognition places them among the top students in the nation and represents their outstanding academic achievement and commitment to excellence.
As Semifinalists, Rhodes and Watts will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, which will be awarded next spring. This recognition is based on their exceptional performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which serves as the initial screening for the program.
Upper School Director, Bill Cook, commented on the students' achievements: “Emma and Ben's recognition as National Merit Semifinalists reflects their hard work, perseverance, and intellectual curiosity. They have consistently demonstrated academic excellence, and we are excited to see them continue to excel as they move forward in the competition.”
The National Merit Scholarship Program, established in 1955, honors students who show exceptional academic potential. Approximately 16,000 Semifinalists were named nationwide, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. Semifinalists must meet additional academic and other standards to qualify as Finalists, who will compete for more than $28 million in National Merit Scholarships.
Brookwood School congratulates Rhodes and Watts on this outstanding accomplishment and looks forward to supporting them as they pursue further academic success.
Located in Thomasville, GA, Brookwood School is a private school for grades JK-12. Students benefit from a challenging academic program, fine and performing arts, competitive athletics, and a wide selection of extracurricular activities.
