THOMASVILLE -- Earlier this week, Brookwood School’s seventh grade class took a trip to Jekyll Island to learn about marine life in Georgia. Students studied at Georgia 4-H at Camp Jekyll.
The class of 2027 was divided into three groups that focused on different animals – turtles, snakes, and tree frogs. Within those sections, students participated in activities in areas such as salt marsh ecology, dissection, maritime forest ecology, beach ecology, herpetology, and more.
Middle School science teacher Amanda Hanke shared, “The main takeaways that I wanted the students to have is making memories and building relationships with their classmates and teachers. I wanted them to increase their environmental awareness and to connect with nature.”
Members of the class of 2027 participated in several fun and educational outdoor activities, like seining.
