Eighth grade students get creative in problem solving
Thomasville Times-Enterprise, Staff Report
THOMASVILLE - Throughout the year, all eighth grade students at Brookwood School participate in a 12-week Design Thinking enrichment course. Students used the five steps of Design Thinking (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test) to help solve problems in our community. As a class, this group of students developed possible solutions to a variety of problems: improving the mental health among Middle School students, an all-weather alternative to deet bug spray, a slip-resistant cover to allow athletes to wear their cleats off the field, and a more energy-efficient and ergonomic phone case with an included longer power cord.
Members of the Design Thinking class presented their problem solving ideas to their classmates and other faculty and administrators. Back row left to right: Alexa Morton, Hayes King, Beau Spence, Jarrett Parr, Taylor Jacobs, Jack Spence Middle Row: Lulu Watkins, Mikey Gutierrez, Kennedy Phipps, Addison Gamble, Avery Bentley, Saunder Dinkelman Front Row: Caroline Johnson, Wyatt Davis, William Marler, Maggie Brock, Eva Nicholson and Jack Tuten
