BROOKWOOD ANNOUNCES 27 AP SCHOLARS

Thomasville Times-Enterprise, Staff Report
THOMASVILLE - 2021 Advanced Placement (AP) exam scores have been released, and Brookwood School
students performed well.

AP courses are classes that are taken in high school, but taught at the college level. At the end of the course,
students take an AP exam, and based on the result of that exam, can earn college credit. A score of 3 or better on the AP exam’s 5-point scale is sufficient to earn credit at most colleges and universities.

In addition to the strong performance of Brookwood students overall, a total of 27 Brookwood students earned
special recognition as AP Scholars, AP Scholars with Honor, and AP Scholars with Distinction.

To earn recognition as an AP Scholar a student must earn a score of 3 or better on three or more Advanced
Placement exams. Brookwood’s AP Scholars for 2021 are Will Bryant '22, Fincher Davis '21, Abigail Middleton '21, Taylor Middleton '22, Emmett Miles '21, Bailey Noah '21, and Will Tinney '21.

To be designated as an AP Scholar with Honor, a student must earn scores of 3 or better on at least four Advanced Placement exams, and score an average of 3.25 or higher on all AP exams taken. This year’s honorees from Brookwood are Joseph Atkinson '21, Collin Clark '22, Abby Craven '22, Elise McPherson '22, Dana Pollock '22, Sally Powell '22, Justin Quinet '21, Kate Ashton Redrupp '22, Jack Saussy '22, Callan Walker '21, and Nathan Yokley '21.

In order to achieve the AP Scholar with Distinction, a student must earn scores of 3 or better on at least five exams, and score an average of 3.5 or higher on all AP exams taken. Nine Brookwood students earned the award this year: Jackson Clendenin '21, Mary Dodys '21, Benjamin Filston '21, Alden Harrison '21, Abby Lee '21, Eliza Miller '21, Drew Parker '21, Lizzie Rollins '21, and Emma Szwarc '21.

AP courses are a competitive aspect of a Brookwood education, as they prepare students for the rigors of college courses and beyond. Their hard work pays off when college credit is earned for these classes.
