Cauley named to National Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation All Scholastic Team

Thomasville Times-Enterprise, Staff Report
THOMASVILLE - Brookwood School’s Ava Cauley ‘23 was recently selected for the National Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation All Scholastic Team. This team is selected from high school shooters across the country with at least a 3.5 GPA unweighted and elite level scores in a shooting match sponsored by the Scholastics Clay Target program.  Cauley had a win in both sporting clays and in the Georgia Junior Olympic Trap Championship that qualified her for this honor in both disciplines.  According to her coach, Mike Simpson, he "couldn't be any prouder.  After starting her journey 18 months ago, Ava continues to impress through commitment to training, attitude, smile and a dream.  A testament to this is the results she's turning in at major competitions and just recently being named to the Scholastic Clay Target Program's All American Team."

Cauley also competed in the National Sporting Clays Georgia State Championship in Savannah on June 17 - 20.  The tournament is open to all aged shooters and includes the best professional shooters in the country.  The match lasted four days and consisted of several side events culminating in a 200 target main event to name the champion.  She won 1st place in one side event, placed 3rd in two side events, then won the 200 target main event in her class.  Her final round Sunday was topped only by four other women and bested many professional shooters.
