Brookwood Girls Soccer Earns Postseason Awards

Brookwood’s Lady Warrior soccer team finished its season as Region Champions and reached the GISA Quarterfinals. With such a successful season, one in which the Lady Warriors outscored Region opponents 51-6 and played a perfect 8-0 record, the team earned quite a few postseason individual accolades.

Ten players earned spots on the All-Region team. Half of those ten were five senior starters - Ryan Gaston, Jordan Burns, Lizzie Rollins, Eliza Miller, and Jessie Wortman. Losing such a strong nucleus would concern most programs, but the Lady Warriors still saw five other players earn All-Region who will return next season. Hutton Daniel, Hendley Bryan, Kate Ashton Redrupp, Kate Von Hellens, and Abby Jones also earned All-Region honors and will need to step up in the departed seniors' absence.

Ryan Gaston was named the Region’s Player of the Year after finishing with a team-leading 20 goals and 8 assists. She scored an incredible 7 goals in one game against Southland Academy.

Coach Eddie Foy noted, “I am very proud of our soccer family. They had a fantastic season, making history for our program. The first team in school history to win region with an undefeated record, while scoring 51 goals and only conceding 6. I am very proud of the hard work and effort we put in each day to make this goal possible. The leadership from our seniors was outstanding. I am excited to keep building and go again next year.”

Three senior captains - Gaston, Jordan Burns, and Eliza Miller - each earned the honor of being on the GISA All-State team as well. Burns was named the Brookwood senior class’s most outstanding female athlete. She finished the season with 11 goals and 6 assists. Gaston and Burns both benefited from the passing of Eliza Miller, who was the team leader in assists with 16 while also scoring 8 goals.

The team finished the year with the most wins of any team in the GISA, while the only loss to a GISA opponent was against Frederica Academy in the Quarterfinal. It was a heartbreaking 2-1 loss in overtime to end the season. The Lady Warriors will be in contention for the Region title again next season.
