Boys Soccer Handles YACS, Advances to Quarterfinal

After playing just one game in the past three weeks, it took awhile for the Brookwood Warriors to get going in Wednesday's home game. The 1st Round matchup in the GISA State Playoffs got off to a tough start when Young Americans Christian took an early 1-0 lead.

Once Simms Ladson's goal with 15 minutes left in the 1st Half cracked the door open, the Warriors were off and running. Just three minutes later Cutter Waldrep put Brookwood ahead for good, tapping in the go-ahead goal off of a brilliant cross-field pass from Griffin King.

King then handled and scored a nicely delivered through-ball in the box from Julian Redrupp for the first of his two goals, notching the second just a few minutes later from a well played assist by Will Porter.

The offensive onslaught of 4 Brookwood goals all happened in just over 10 minutes of game time late in the 1st Half. Cutter Waldrep tacked on another goal early in the 2nd, using his left foot from about 25 yards out. The visiting Eagles from Young Americans Christian added a late goal for the final 5-2 score.

Brookwood has now won its last 9 decisions dating back to March 20th and stand at 11-5-2 overall on the season.

The 1st Round win advances the Warriors to the State Quarterfinal. Brookwood will have to travel to Augusta to play Westminster School, winners over Westfield 10-0 in their first round game.
