Warrior Golf Wins Region Title!

Brookwood Golf had an impressive day as a team on Monday. The Warriors won the Region Tournament at Valdosta Country Club, staving off tough competition from the hosting Valwood Valiants.

Brookwood’s team score of 290, keeping the top four scorers of five players, bested runner-up Valwood’s 298 from their top four scorers. Southland Academy finished in 3rd place and Tiftarea Academy took 4th place.

JD Culbreth led the way for Brookwood with a -6 under (66) on the day. The 8th grader’s highlight was an Eagle on a Par 4. Culbreth’s day earned him low medalist for the pack of 20 golfers in competition.

All 5 Warriors shot 78 or under, using impressive depth to beat the region rivals. This type of balanced attack and five strong scoring opportunities gives Brookwood a legitimate shot at next week’s GISA State Tournament.

Jack Boltja finished Even to par for the day at 72, playing his best golf of the day on the back 9. Jay Sanders was +2 for the day at 74. Kat Cook and George Arline both shot +6 rounds of 78. Boltja and Sanders finished in the Top 5 of the 20 golfers in competition to earn All-Region honors along with Culbreth.

The Warriors advance to next Monday’s GISA State Tournament in Brunswick.
