Back-to-Back Wins for Warrior Baseball

Brookwood Baseball captured back-to-back wins to end its week, the first needing extra innings on the road and the second a home blowout on Senior Night.

Brookwood 8, Terrell Academy 4 (9 innings)
The Warriors appeared in control of Thursday's road contest at Terrell Academy early, scoring a run in each of its first three innings to jump out 3-0. Brookwood led 4-2 going into the Bottom of the 7th. Terrell Academy used a solo homerun, a single, and a walk to start its rally. A ground out allowed the tying run to score and forced extra innings.

After no scoring in the 8th, Jacob Lauderdale hit a go-ahead solo homerun to make it 5-4 with 1-out in the Top of the 9th. Brookwood would not stop there. The Warriors tacked on three more runs, grinding out two RBI walks and another via a HBP to take the 8-4 lead. The Warriors held on to win by that score in the Bottom of the 9th.

Zack Counts went 3-for-5 at the plate, including 2 homeruns on the day. Parker Mirick and Camden Harbin each had two hits in the game.

Jacob Lauderdale started the game and pitched 6 innings, scattering 5 hits and 4 walks to go with 8 strikeouts. He allowed 1 earned run. Freshman Rodge Waldrop came in relief, not able to get the save but capturing the win in extras after he pitched the final 3 innings.

Brookwood 15, Citizens Christian Academy 0
Friday's home win at Strickland Field on Senior Night didn't contain as much drama. The Warriors scored early and often, cruising to a 15-0 win.

Jacob Lauderdale went 2-for-3 at the plate with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Parker Mirick and Josh McCaskill each had two RBI on the day, while Harper McLendon came around to score 3 runs.

The game was complete via mercy-rule after just 3 innings. The Warriors scored 3 runs in the 1st, 7 in the 2nd, and 5 more in the 3rd. Parker Mirick pitched the 3 necessary innings for Brookwood, striking out 6 Patriots and not allowing any hits.

The Warriors jump back in Region action this week, hosting Tiftarea Academy. The first game of the 3-game series will be on Tuesday in Thomasville at 6:30 p.m.
