Brookwood Baseball Wins Fifth in a Row, Beats Deerfield-Windsor

Brookwood Baseball won its fifth game in a row Friday night, beating Deerfield-Windsor 8-3 at Strickland Field.

After falling behind 1-0 in the Top of the 2nd, a 5-run Bottom of the inning gave Brookwood a lead they wouldn't relinquish the rest of the night. Josh McCaskill tied the game with a leadoff solo homerun before a Parker Lee line drive RBI single scored Jacob Lauderdale. With 2 outs, Zack Counts hit a 3-run homerun to open up the game and a 5-1 Brookwood lead.

The Knights scratched one run across in both the 3rd and 4th innings to make things interesting, but the Warriors responded with two more of their own in the Bottom of the 5th and one more in the Bottom of the 6th for the final 8-3 score. Counts hit another homerun, this time a solo shot, in the Bottom of the 6th for his fourth homerun in the Warriors' last three games.

Lauderdale worked the win on the mound, pitching 5 innings. He had 8 strikeouts on the night to go with only 1 walk and 3 hits allowed. Parker Mirick pitched 2 innings of shutout relief, striking out 5 Deerfield-Windsor Knights.

Region play starts this week, with Brookwood traveling to Southland Academy on Tuesday before hosting the Raiders for a doubleheader on Thursday at Strickland Field on Brookwood's campus.
