Brown named region player of the year

Brown, Thompson earn all-state honors
HOMASVILLE — Brookwood School’s Kurtis Brown was named to the GISA AAA-3 region player of the year and also named to the GISA AAAall-state team. Brown scored 13 points per game and had eight rebounds per game. Brown, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, had 13 double-double performances on the season.
Lady Warriors senior Jordan Thompson also was named to the allstate team. Thompson led Brookwood with 12 points and five rebounds per game. She also was the team’s leader in free throw percentage. Thompson led the team in deflections on defense and was second on the team in made 3-pointers with 36.
Juniors Harrison Owens, Sam Barrett and JP Chapman were named to the all-region boys team. Senior Jacob Atkinson and sophomore Jack Boltja were named all-region honorable mention.
Juniors Holland Walker and Mollie Vick were named to the all-region girls team, as was sophomore Erin Lewis.
Sophomores Ann Murray Jackson and Jordan Burns were named all-region honorable mention.
