Warrior Cross Country heads to State

 
The Brookwood School’s Boys and Girls Varsity Cross-Country Teams both advance to the State
Championships after securing their place as Region Runners-Up at the GIAA Region 3 AAA Championship. Both teams finished second at the meet, which was held at Darton College on Friday, October 10th. Five Brookwood runners received All-Region Honors by placing in the Top 10:
Boys Varsity
Wesley Warren ‘27 (2nd)
Mason Brunson ‘26 (8th)
Niko Williams ‘30 (9th)

Girls Varsity
Olivia Mizell ‘29 (3rd)
Savannah Posey ‘30 (4th)

The Lady Warriors had a team average time of 24:41, their best composite time at a Region Championship in over a decade. Freshman Olivia Mizell led the team, taking third place with a time of 21:59—the fastest time for a Lady Warrior at a Region Championship since Honey Balfour ‘17 ran 22:01 at the GISA 3 AAA Region Meet in 2012. Eighth grader Savannah Posey placed fourth overall with a time of 22:07, followed by Annabel Lanier ‘29 (15th), Pierce Garland ‘26 (19th), and Audrey Mizell ‘26 (24th).

Junior Wesley Warren claimed Region Runner-Up Honors, finishing second overall with a new PR of 16:28. Senior Mason Brunson (18:28) and eighth grader Niko Williams (19:06) placed eighth and ninth, respectively. Ryder Hanke ‘30 (13th), Beau Posey ‘28 (14th), Kenji Sun ‘27 (16th), and Joshua Glass ‘28 (17th) rounded out the order for the Warriors.
