The Warrior offense went to work as they quickly made it to the Eagles’ 26-yard line. On the option run, Hayes took it and weaved past the defense for a touchdown to go up 6-0 in the first quarter.
On the ensuing Terrell drive, they faced a fourth and long when a well-defended pass was completed for a first down. Not long after the quarter came to an end.

Brookwood stayed aggressive on the ground during the next drive, getting the ball to just outside the Terrell red zone. After a handoff to Ernest Sims took it to the house, the two-point conversion from Hayes gave the Warriors a 14-6 lead.
The next drive for Terrell ended in disaster as the quarterback threw the ball under pressure to his receiver. However, Sims popped the ball out for a fumble, which was recovered by the defense.
With the offense set up in excellent field position, it only took a few plays before Sims ran in another touchdown. A successful two-point conversion gave Brookwood a 22-6 lead with just under a minute to go in the half.
Trying to get some points on the board before the half, the Eagles were putting a drive together until Carson Garcia broke through the line and brought the quarterback down for a second and long.
After a quick scramble by the quarterback to gain some yards back, Terrell opted to let the clock run and go to the locker room for the half.
The Eagles came out in the second half firing, as they scored a touchdown on their first drive to cut the lead to ten. However, Terrell caught Brookwood off guard with an onside kick, which they recovered.
The Warriors forced a fourth down, and Garcia broke through again and sacked the quarterback to force the turnover on downs.
On the ensuing Brookwood possession, facing a third and long, Hayes cut back to the outside to get to the 13. Then Hayes converted another third down and later powered his way to the end zone for a touchdown.
Soon, the third quarter came to an end with the Warriors holding a 28-12 lead.
The Brookwood defense forced a turnover on downs to bring their offense back on the field. However, they stared down a third and long, and Hayes threw a dot to Tucker Spence for the first down.
A play later, Garcia broke a tackle and turned on the jets for a touchdown.
The Warrior defense came through again as the Eagles quarterback was picked off by Johnson Beatty. Brookwood then ran out the rest of the clock to win the championship 34-12.
“We are very proud of our middle school team and all that they’ve been able to accomplish this year,” Coach Daryl Jones said. “It is a testament to how hard they worked in the off-season and during the year while practicing with our varsity guys and getting better in preparation for their level of competition.”
