Dear Brookwood Families:

Greetings! The purpose of this message is to provide this week’s highlights on our plans to reopen on August 10th.

We appreciate the support, questions, and feedback that you have provided on our Reopening Brookwood School plan. We have addressed the questions that have come to us individually. Additionally, we have updated our Frequently Asked Questions on the page. We will continue to update this site and make refinements as we move through the year. If you have additional questions, please send them to BWReopen2020@brookwoodschool.org

Key Updates and Answers to the most Frequently Asked Questions:

Opening DayWe are still planning to open on August 10th. This will be a full day of classes for our Middle and Upper School students. We will not have the traditional mini-class day; we are going straight back to school! For our Lower School students, we will have a staggered start with brief parent meetings throughout the day. For the schedule of the day, please click here. At this time, we are projecting to open in YELLOW MODE.

Lockers: Students will not have access to lockers in most operating modes. This is to avoid congestion in the hallways. Middle and Upper School students with a large number of books may consider obtaining a rolling bag to carry their belongings.

Drop-off: Our drop-off patterns will remain the same. Students who arrive by bus will have a wellness screening prior to boarding the bus. Students who arrive by car will have a wellness screening prior to exiting the car. Students who drive themselves will have a wellness screen prior to entering Crozer Hall. We ask that students arrive at school no earlier than 7:40 a.m. so that we can have our team ready to greet them.

Parents on campus: We ask that parents do not enter the school buildings unless they have a pre-arranged appointment or scheduled event. This is to minimize the number of people on campus at any given time. Please call ahead to the front office in the event a student needs to sign out.

What happens if someone is suspected, confirmed, or exposed to COVID-19? We have prepared a one-page flowchart to address each of these situations. I encourage you to review and even print this out as a clear reference for your family.

What will lunch service look like? Pepi Foods will still provide our daily lunch service for those students who choose to purchase lunch at school. The menu will be limited to expedite time spent in the lunch line. Grab-and-go salads, sandwiches, and other selections will be offered daily. Please see the FAQ section for additional information.

What constitutes a mask? We had a lot of questions about this! Please see our FAQ section for guidelines.

Reopening Video
We have prepared a reopening video to highlight the day-to-day changes that will take place this year. This is a user-friendly overview of the information that we have provided on our website. Also, you may see some familiar faces. We encourage you to watch this video with your students.

What you can do to help us have a successful start to the school year?
As we get closer to the start of school, we ask that our families help us to prepare for a safe return to campus. Right now, we ask you to do everything you can to prepare your family to be healthy. The more we practice the guidelines set forth by the CDC such as physical distancing, hand washing, the use of a cloth face covering in public spaces, and avoidance of large crowds, the more likely we are to keep our Brookwood community safe, have a smooth start, and stay in school.

We are here for you and we are grateful for your partnership.

Go Warriors!
