  • AP Art 2-D Design

    AP 2-D Art and Design is an advanced-level course, authorized by The College Board, designed for students who have successfully completed Foundations of Art and are eager to advance their skills in two-dimensional art forms. This college-level course emphasizes creative problem-solving and personal expression across a wide range of media, including but not limited to drawing, painting, photography, digital art, and mixed media. Students will develop a portfolio in accordance with The College Board's guidelines, which includes a sustained investigation of a thematic concept and a collection of selected works that showcase technical skill, innovative composition, and thoughtful communication of ideas. Through studio practice, in-depth critiques, and independent exploration, students refine their design principles, strengthen their artistic vision, and prepare their portfolios for submission to The College Board for AP assessment, with the opportunity to earn college credit.
  • AP Art: Drawing

    AP Drawing is an advanced-level course, authorized by The College Board, designed for students who have successfully completed Foundations of Art and are ready to deepen their artistic skills and personal voice. This rigorous, college-level course focuses on developing mastery in drawing through intensive exploration of line, shape, value, form, and composition, while encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and innovation. Students will create a portfolio as outlined by The College Board, which includes a sustained investigation of a particular theme or concept and a series of selected works demonstrating high-quality craftsmanship and effective communication of ideas. Through critiques, independent research, and hands-on practice, students refine their techniques, strengthen their art-making process, and prepare their portfolios for submission to The College Board for AP assessment and potential college credit.
  • Foundations of Art

    Foundations of Art is an introductory course for students in grades 9-12, focusing on essential skills in the visual arts through hands-on projects and creative exploration. Students learn the elements of art and principles of design while working with a variety of media such as pencil, charcoal, chalk pastel, paint, and mixed media. Emphasizing a studio-based approach, the course covers color theory, composition, and techniques that build confidence and foster personal expression, preparing students for advanced art courses.
  • Studio Art

    Studio Art is an advanced course designed for upperclassmen who have successfully completed Foundations of Art, AP Drawing, and AP 2-D Art and Design. This course focuses on refining artistic skills and developing a cohesive portfolio that showcases students' technical mastery, creative vision, and personal style. Through in-depth exploration of various media, self-directed projects, and thematic investigations, students are challenged to push their artistic boundaries and create a professional-quality body of work. Emphasizing critique, innovation, and portfolio preparation, Studio Art prepares students for collegiate art studies, exhibitions, and artistic endeavors beyond high school.
