Summer Send-off: Carson Allen

This week, Brookwood Athletics is highlighting our athletes from the Class of 2018 transitioning to their time in college. Today's is Carson Allen, who will be going to Sewanee: The University of the South in Monteagle, TN to study and be a member of the Tigers football team. To read Carson's Q&A, click here!
Sewanee: The University of the South is a member of NCAA Division III and known as one of the premier academic institutions in the country. The Tigers athletics programs compete in the Southern Athletic Association. Carson was starting Linebacker, GISA All-Star and All-Region selection in 2017 during his senior season. He'll be teaming up with fellow Brookwood Warrior Max Beverly '18 in college.

Describe a little of your recruitment process and how you chose Sewanee? What were you looking for in a college experience?

Carson Allen: As soon as I began my career as a Warrior I knew I could make it to the next level, it just depended where that would place me. My sophomore year we had a recruiter from Sewanee come by and talk to me and that sparked an interest in the program. I visited the next year and fell in love with the place. It felt like home. A whole new coaching staff required me to make another visit to confirm that I did indeed want to be a part of the program and I saw myself loving it even more. Sewanee is a great academic school in a beautiful part of the country. It is small like Brookwood and gives off a similar feel to it. I believe that is what drew me to it in the first place.

What are you looking forward to most about your Freshman year of college?

CA: I am looking forward to starting (training) camp in just a week and seeing how the hard work I've put in this summer has paid off. Hopefully I'll get a chance to prove myself at camp and find a spot to earn some playing time.

How have you spent your summer as you transition from Brookwood to your next stop in collegiate athletics?

CA: This summer has been filled with traveling and training. Even as I've been out of town on trips, I've put in the reps and work that Sewanee has asked me for. This hard work and motivation no doubt came from the work ethic instilled in me by Brookwood.

What differences at the collegiate level in your sport are you anticipating or preparing for?

CA: The biggest thing I'm preparing for is the higher tempo and aggressiveness of the collegiate level.

What's a lesson or skill you've learned playing at Brookwood that will help you at the next level?

CA: The biggest skill I've acquired while playing at Brookwood would have to be my high motor. My desire to do what is necessary at the level I need to is something I will never forget.

Any advice for younger Warriors at Brookwood aspiring to play at the collegiate level?

CA: Work hard, put in the extra reps, pay attention in class and on the field, and don't give up.
