Summer Send-off: Adam Davis

Over the next few days, Brookwood Athletics will be highlighting our athletes from the Class of 2018 who are transitioning to their time in college. Today's is Adam Davis, who will be going to Point University in West Point, GA to study and be a member of the Skyhawks football team. To read Adam's Q&A, click here!
Point University is a member of the NAIA and competes in the Mid-South Conference. Adam was a two-way starter at Running Back and Safety for the Warriors, earning GISA All-Star and All-Region distinctions during his senior season in 2017.

Describe a little of your recruitment process and how you chose Point University? What were you looking for in a college experience?
 
Adam Davis: My college recruitment was very unique as I ventured into my senior year. Not being able to play significant time in my previous years, I came into my senior year with no offers and didn't get one until well after the season. Although I did have some coaches come by and talk with me, only a select few schools actually offered me. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the process and I ended up choosing Point because of the family atmosphere and the distance from home, as well as the constant contact between myself and the coaching staff.
 
What are you looking forward to most about your Freshman year of college?
 
AD: What I'm most looking forward to about my freshman year in college is the learning experience and getting my feet wet. I definitely want to get comfortable so I can learn not only on the field but off the field and make more friends as I progress.
 
How have you spent your summer as you transition from Brookwood to your next stop in collegiate athletics?

AD: I've spent the majority of of my summer at Brookwood in the weightroom getting stronger and more explosive. Also I've been studying film heavily and breaking down my weaker points on the field to make them better as I journey to the next level.
 
What differences at the collegiate level in your sport are you anticipating or preparing for?
 
AD: I'm anticipating most the speed of the game and practices will be very different. As soon as I grasp the speed of the game I think I'll be fine but I think that'll be the biggest adjustment.
 
What's a lesson or skill you've learned playing at Brookwood that will help you at the next level?
 
AD: The most important lesson I learned from Brookwood would be to make sure you don't take things for granted. As I move forward in life I realize many of the simple things will be gone and I will be faced with tougher tasks. So enjoy the simple things in life and the people around you because life gets more difficult and challenging as you get older.
 
Any advice for younger Warriors at Brookwood aspiring to play at the collegiate level?
 
AD: My advice for the younger Warriors would be keep God first, stay in your books, and continue to perfect your craft.
