State Champs! Singletary, Cohen represent Brookwood in Georgia BASS Fishing Classic, win GISA.

Brookwood Warriors Levi Singletary and Bradley Cohen competed at the Georgia BASS Nation High School Fishing Classic this past week on Lake Eufala, winning the GISA Interscholastic Tournament that was held as part of the event. The pair has competed throughout the spring in various tournaments around the State, working towards the ultimate goal last Thursday and Friday. They were one of 108 teams that qualified and competed in the event.

On the tournament’s first day, conditions were tough thanks to the recent passing of Tropical Storm Alberto. The winds were high and there was muddy water to find bass in for the team. At the end of day one, Singletary and Cohen were at the top of the leaderboard with a 5 fish limit weighing in at 19.39 lbs. Day two presented its own challenges for the participants as the weather grew hotter and the sun emerged. Fishing was tougher for the team and they brought a 5-fish limit weighing 12.73 lbs to the scale for a two day total weight of 32.12 lbs. After a long wait watching the remaining teams weigh in, the Fishing Warriors were announced as 4th place overall and 1st within the GISA.

Their impressive finish earned the Fishing Warriors a spot in the Mossy Oak Fishing Bassmaster High School Series National Championship presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods. Nationals will be in Paris, Tennessee on Kentucky Lake in early August.
