Soccer Stars: Walker and Young make AAA All-State Teams

Senior Preston Young and Sophomore Holland Walker were both stars on the soccer field this year for their respective Warrior teams, helping the Boys' and Girls' soccer programs to Region 3-AAA runner-up finishes. The pair was rewarded for their outstanding play by both being named to the GISA AAA All-State teams today. Young led the Boys' team as a dynamic playmaker from the center midfield position in his senior season, finishing with 5 goals and 7 assists. This is Young's second consecutive appearance on the GISA All-State team. The four-year starter finishes his career with totals of 20 goals and 30 assists, to go along with four appearances on the All-Region team and two Region Player of the Year awards. As a sophomore, Young was a key component of the Warriors run to the Final Four.

A Varsity starter since just the 8th grade, Walker experienced her most prolific year yet as a Sophomore while facing non-stop attention from opposing defenses. The aggressive Forward led the Lady Warriors soccer team in scoring with 25 goals and 10 assists. This is her second consecutive appearance on the All-State team. She was a scoring machine, tallying a remarkable six different games with a hat trick (3 goals in a single game). In her 46-game career Holland is up to totals of 59 goals and 20 assists, with two seasons still to go in a Lady Warrior uniform.

Eddie Foy, the director and head coach for both teams, noted, "This is a tremendous accomplishment for Preston, Holland, and our soccer programs. The hard work these two have put in over the years has been remarkable. They deserve this and have made their coaches, teammates, and school proud."
