Brookwood students strive to end hunger

Thomasville Times-Enterprise, Staff Report
For the final Warrior Wednesday service leadership project of the year, Brookwood School students paired with the local chapter of Kids Against Hunger out of Cairo, Ga., along with members of the Marguerite Neel Williams Boys and Girls Club to fight hunger. Students in grades four through 12 joined efforts to package meals for those who are food insecure. Kids Against Hunger (KAH) is a non-profit humanitarian organization with a mission to provide fully nutritious food to impoverished children and familiesaround the world, and around the corner. The goal of the organization is for the meals to provide a stable nutritional base from which recipient families can move their families from starvation or food insecurity to self-sufficiency.
The meals packed by the student volunteers contain easily digestible protein, carbohydrates and vitamins needed by malnourished bodies and minds. Students carefully measured out each ingredient and packaged them into sealed meal packages.
