Brookwood tennis competes at state playoffs

Brookwood’s tennis teams competed in GISA Class 3A state matches on Monday. All Warrior singles players and doubles teams won their first round matches, advancing them to the state quarterfinal matchups.
In girls singles action, Jenna Merschman and Cricket Daniel both won their first round match before losing in the quarterfinals. Merschman defeated Emily Harrison of Trinity Christian-Dublin, while Daniel ousted Irene Lee from Pinewood. On the boys singles side, Dallas Forsyth suffered the same fate. Forsyth won his first round match but lost in the quarterfinals to the state’s No. 1 seeded player, Britton Johnson of William Reed Academy.
Landon Carter and Andrew Cooper both advanced to today’s GISA semifinals with wins in the first round and quarterfinals. Carter took downHunter Woods of EBA in the first round while Cooper handled Dylan McHugh of Frederica. Cooper and Carter now are on opposite sides of the bracket in semifinal matches today and would meet in the state championship if they both win early in the day.
The doubles teams of Thomas Harrison/ Bradley Merschman and Alden Harrison/Nic Kadel both went 2-0 on the day, earning first round and quarterfinal wins. Both teams advanced to today’s semifinal round. The two pairs now are in opposite semifinal matches today, and would meet in the state championship if they both win early in the day.
