Edwards’ Eagles win the 2018 Ikidarod

Brookwood School’s second grade concluded their unit of study of Balto. Balto was a Siberian husky and sled dog who led his team on the final leg of the 1925 serum run to Nome, carrying diphtheria antitoxin to combat an outbreak of the disease.
Second grade brought Balto’s valiant journey to life in the running of the 2018 Ikidarod in Warrior Stadium. Upper School students in the Foundations of Innovation class designed and built sleds that were pulled by the younger students.
Mrs. Edwards’ class, dubbed the Eagles for this race, were named victors over Mrs. Clendenin’s Daredevils.
