Game 1 Bulloch Academy 5 Brookwood 0
The Warriors offense looked to get off to a promising start, with Mollie Vick starting out the bottom of the first with a hit by pitch and Dara Moore following up with a double to left field. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, with nobody out, the Warriors offense came up empty. In the top of the second, pitcher Landry Joyner got out of a jam stranding three Bulloch Academy Gators.
In the top of the third, the Gators finally broke through with a RBI sac fly and an RBI single to lead 2-0. The Warriors threatened a response in the bottom of the inning, with Abbie Bustle and Moore reaching base. The Warriors were unable to convert, stranding two more runners. The bottom of the fourth resulted in more of the same, with runners on the corners Jessie Wortman was caught stealing 2nd base to end the inning.
Still trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Dara Moore's double wasn't turned in to any runs. The Gators used the defensive momentum in the top of the sixth with a 2-run homerun over the left field fence to extend the lead to 4-0. The Gators tacked on another with a sac fly in the top of the seventh for the final score of 5-0.
The Warrior offense was able to get runners on base throughout the game but unable to come up with the timely hits when they were needed the most.
Game 2 Bulloch Academy 10 Brookwood 4
Playing as the visiting team, the Warriors were up to bat in the top of the first inning. Mollie Vick and Dara Moore got the offense off to another great start, both reaching with hard hit singles. Abbie Lee's 2-RBI double scored Vick and Moore to give the Warriors a quick 2-0 lead before the Gators had even come to the plate.
In the bottom of the first, the Gators were able to plate one on a passed ball thrown by Lee playing pitcher. In the bottom of the second, the Gators loaded the bases early in the inning and capitalized with four runs to take a 5-2 lead.
Dara Moore responded with a solo homerun in the top of the third to pull the Warriors within two, trailing 5-3. A throwing error in the field allowed two Gators to score in the bottom of the third and open up a 7-3 lead which would prove too much for the Lady Warriors to rally against.
The Gators pulled away in the games later innings, finishing the second game with a 10-4 win and sweeping the best-of-three series 2 games to 0.
The loss ends a great season for the Lady Warriors, who came within one game of winning the Region Championship. Finishing as the second seed from AAA Region-3 should provide motivation for the young players who return for next season's campaign. The Warriors lose two seniors in GISA All-Stars Dara Moore and Landry Joyner.
