Cross Country runs at Westwood, Varsity Girls Place Second

Varsity 5K
The Varsity Boys were led by 8th grader Jack Saussy, who ran in his first varsity race. Saussy finished in 10th overall, earning him a medal spot with a time of 23.17. An unbelievable achievement in his first varsity race on a very tough course. Saussy was followed by teammate Wyatt Whitfield who finished 11th overall with a time of 23.25, all other members of the team had strong runs earning the Warriors a 4th place finish.

The varsity Girls also had a very strong run, 10th grader Isabella Grayson finished first for the Warriors with a time of 28:37 earning Grayson a 12th place finish. Grayson was followed by teammate Caroline Elkins who finished in 15th place with a time of 32.05, a great achievement in her very first race for the Warriors. The Varsity Girls team managed to finish 2nd overall as a team, earning them a trophy place finish. A big congratulations to Isabella Grayson, Madeline Gordon, Vivian Newman, Anna Vick, Riley Pollock, Caroline Elkins and Ellie Harrer.
Middle School 3K
Middle school boys were lead by 8th grader Zach Lauderdale who had the highest place finish of the day for the Warriors, taking 5th place with a time of 10.56. Lauderdale was followed by teammate Franklin Beverly who finished with a time of 12.04 and a top 20 finish, another great run for a first time runner for the Warriors.
Middle school girls were lead by 6th grader Wilson Young who finished with a time of 13.22, earning Young a top 20 place finish and another very strong run. Young was followed by teammate Dana Pollock who finished with a time of 13.56 and a top 20 finish.
Coach Foy had this to say about the weekend:
“This weekend was great opportunity to see how we are improving as a team against our region opponents. I am very proud of all our runners; we had a lot of events this week with homecoming and a delayed start to the week with hurricane issues, but our runners stayed focused, showed up and put in a lot of hard work to get some outstanding results. We are looking forward to another strong run this coming weekend as we go to
Deerfield.”
