Softball Loses Away Game, Falls at Brooks County

The Lady Warriors, coming off two Region wins last week, couldn't sustain that momentum as they dropped an away contest 8-7 at Brooks County Tuesday afternoon. Read more...
It was a high-scoring game on the road for the Lady Warriors.

After being able to jump out to the early lead, the Lady Warriors took a 3-2 advantage into the bottom of the second inning. This was where Brookwood would fall behind, seeing the Trojans plate two in the bottom half to capture a 4-3 lead. In the top of the third, the Warriors pulled even to tie the game at 4-4.

After taking a 5-4 lead in the top of the fourth inning, the defense couldn't keep the lead in the bottom half. The Trojans scored three runs that would prove to be the difference. After the Trojans tacked on an insurance run to lead 8-5 after six innings, the Lady Warriors tried to find some of the same rally power they produced in the seventh inning last week at Valwood.

Mollie Vick led off with a bunt single and Dara Moore followed with a two-run homerun to pull within 8-7. Landry Joyner followed with a hard hit ball to center field as she was able to reach first with a single. The next couple of batters were able to make good contact but none that found space between the Trojans defense.

The 8-7 loss dropped the Lady Warriors to 6-3 Overall, still 2-2 in Region play. They take the field again Thursday at Tiftarea and at home on Friday against Thomasville High. Both games are set to start at 4:30 p.m.
