Will Dettor Named New Athletic Director for Brookwood School

There will be a new face leading Brookwood Athletics into the 2023-24 school year. Dr. Randy Watts announced to the Brookwood community on Tuesday that Will Dettor will ascend to the role of Athletic Director starting June 1st of this year.

Dr. Watts states, “Coach Dettor brings a rich career of experiences in athletics, as well as a deep passion for and understanding of Brookwood School to this position. His focused, even-keeled, and warm personality will be an asset to this important role. I want to thank Coach Shane Boggs. Under his leadership, Brookwood became stronger as an athletic department by growing athletic opportunities for students, developing coaching staff, raising funds to support Brookwood Athletics, and facilities development.”

Coach Dettor has been with Brookwood for the past three years. He has served as Assistant Athletic Director, Defensive Coordinator for the football team, and Coordinator of the Strength and Conditioning program, among other roles. Prior to joining Brookwood, he had served in various leadership roles in school athletic departments for two decades, including Athletic Director at Crescent City Jr/Sr High School in Central Florida.  During that tenure, the school won district championships in football and boys soccer, as well as advancing to the state semifinals in boys basketball. Dettor also founded the Florida High School 7v7 Association in 2015, which is a school-based 7v7 football organization that has successfully served over 15,000 athletes and coaches. He is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Masters in Kinesiology, in addition to an undergraduate degree from Florida State University in Sports Management. Dettor is also a graduate of St. Anne’s-Belfield, a highly respected independent school in Charlottesville, Va.

Coach Dettor states, “It’s an honor and a privilege to serve as the next Athletic Director of Brookwood School. I want to thank Dr. Watts for trusting in me and providing me with this opportunity. I want to also thank Shane Boggs for paving the way for this successful Athletic Department that I will inherit.”

Coach Dettor will replace Coach Shane Boggs, who resigned from the position last week after serving as Brookwood’s Athletic Director for the past six years. During his tenure as Athletic Director, Brookwood Athletics won four team state championships, seven individual state championships, and more than 30 team and individual region championships. Coach Boggs will remain Head Football Coach and will also lead several key projects in athletics. He made the decision to hand off the leadership of the Athletic Department so that he could focus on football and spend more time with the Boggs family.

Coach Boggs states, “I am confident that our athletic department is stronger today than when it was six years ago. I am just as confident that we will be stronger six years from now than we are today. I have enjoyed working with you in both the hills and valleys. Go Warriors!”
