Students show thanks for veterans

THOMASVILLE: The oldest members of Brookwood’s Lower School largely focus on American history.

“They are beginning to develop a firm foundation and understanding of the sacrifices that were made for us to live in this free country,” says 5th grade social studies and math teacher Kelli Zolt.

Throughout the year, students participate in various events to showcase their newfound knowledge and
understanding.

On November 11, the 5th grade held their annual Veterans Day program. Complete with the Armed Forces medley and recognition of veterans in their families, the students showed their gratitude to soldiers past and present.

Zolt praises the achievements of her class: “They worked hard to learn their songs and memorize their speaking parts, and I am very proud of them.”

Following each students’ historic fact and line in the program, the play closed with a spoken “thank you” from all of the performers to the service members in the audience.
