An Open Letter to Brookwood's Class of 2022

I would further suggest that there is an entrepreneurial spirit within this class that will likely make waves in different fields as you grow up. I can imagine future business leaders, attorneys, doctors, influencers, and philanthropists amongst this group.
An Open Letter to the Class of 2022

Well, friends.... Here we are on the eve of your graduation. I feel like I have grown up through Brookwood with you. You are the first graduating class that I have known as Lower, Middle, and Upper Schoolers. I have watched many of you grow from the Young Patriots in Mr. Howell & Mrs. Noah’s class, to Washington, D.C. explorer in 8th grade, to the young men and women you are today.

You are an interesting bunch with diverse talents, interests, and strengths. You readily admit there are a lot of strong personalities in your class and that not everyone gets along all of the time. This has caused some friction and even periodic divisions.

While this may have felt problematic, at times, let me share with you a few thoughts. I have found in life that, most often, positives and negatives are a flip of the same coin. Diverse groups with strong personalities can change the world. There is an unmistakable boldness to your class that will serve you well in adulthood.

I would further suggest that there is an entrepreneurial spirit within this class that will likely make waves in different fields as you grow up. I can imagine future business leaders, attorneys, doctors, influencers, and philanthropists amongst this group.

Let me pose a thought to you that one of your classmates shared with me. If you were to start a business with someone someday… where do you think you might find that business partner? Would it be someone you met at Brookwood or later in life? My guess would be Brookwood. Because you know that members of your class are well-prepared, tenacious, and will get the job done. I expect that there are bonds in this class that will remain strong throughout adulthood.

So, focus on your strengths, remember what makes you unique, and consider this final thought. It is a great quote from an unknown source:

“Be bold enough to use your voice, brave enough to listen to your heart, and strong enough to live the life you've always imagined.” - unknown.
