Warrior Clay Target Finishes 3rd in State, Bryant 3rd Overall Individually, Cauley Wins GISA Female Championship!

The Warrior Clay Target Team traveled to Forest City Gun Club for the 2021 GISA State Clay Target Championship.

This year’s team brought home plenty of hardware and is the most successful in the program's short history.  The State Championship match consisted of 100 Skeet, 100 Trap, and 100 Sporting Clays targets.  Brookwood finished 3rd in Class AAA and was led by Senior Will Bryant's total combined score of 272.  Bryant finished 3rd Place overall individually, the highest individual score and finish in Brookwood’s history.

Junior Ava Cauley’s overall score of 265 brought home the 2021 GISA Individual Female State Championship Title, also a first individual championship for the program. The 265 score was also good for 5th place overall individually among all competitors.  Her scores included a first place 91 in Trap, 2nd place 84 in Sporting Clays, and 2nd place 92 in Skeet.

Both Bryant and Cauley have been named to the 2021 AAA All-State Team.

The team’s performance also included Junior Parker Lee shooting an overall score of 256, which included a top 10 finish in Sporting Clays with an 85; a 248 by sophomore Max Powers; and a 229 by senior Ben Parrott.

This year’s championship included over 600 varsity shooters from across the state.

Coach Mike Simpson said, "It has been a very productive and rewarding year. Ava Cauley earning a State Championship, Will Bryant achieving a stellar career high performance, and the entire Brookwood team rising to the occasion with career best match scores are all the culmination of a lot of hard work and a positive learning culture coming together. I look forward to great things coming from this team in the future."
