Eighth grade students get creative in problem solving

Thomasville Times-Enterprise, Staff Report
THOMASVILLE - Throughout the year, all eighth grade students at Brookwood School participate in a 12-week Design Thinking enrichment course. Students used the five steps of Design Thinking (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test) to help solve problems in our community. As a class, this group of students developed possible solutions to a variety of problems: improving the mental health among Middle School students, an all-weather alternative to deet bug spray, a slip-resistant cover to allow athletes to wear their cleats off the field, and a more energy-efficient and ergonomic phone case with an included longer power cord.
