Brookwood Softball Run-Rules Pelham

After a frustrating couple of days with scheduled games being called off or rescheduled due to weather, Brookwood Softball was back in action on Wednesday in Pelham. The Lady Warriors didn’t waste any time jumping out to a big lead over the Lady Hornets en route to a 13-3 run-rule win in 5 innings.

Carriyona Williams was once again the spark at the plate offensively. Williams recorded a near-cycle performance for the second game in a row, earning a walk to go along with a single, double, and a triple. Sisters Kendall and Morgan Boggs combined to go 5-5 at the plate with four doubles and a single between them. Kayla Lewis went 2-3 with a double and Libby Jacobson sent a liner into Right Field in the 2nd Inning she legged out for a triple.

Brookwood was up 8-0 after 2 innings of play and then added 5 more in the Top of the 5th. Pelham scored 3 in the Bottom of the 5th to make the final score 13-3, but didn’t draw close enough to stay alive.

Kendall Boggs pitched the first 3 innings for Brookwood, holding Pelham scoreless. Head Coach Christa Boggs commented that it was a huge improvement for Brookwood defensively and should give Brookwood some momentum going forward.

The win improves Brookwood to 1-1 early on in the season, going into Thursday’s home game against Region rival Valwood.
