Warrior Baseball Wins 8th in a Row, Sweeps Region Series

Brookwood Warrior Baseball took both games of their home doubleheader Thursday afternoon over Region foe Southland Academy, finishing off the week's 3-game series sweep to start Region play. A balance of dominant pitching and power hitting were the keys on Thursday. Jacob Lauderdale and Parker Mirick both had outstanding performances on the mound. Lauderdale, Josh McCaskill, and Harper McLendon provided the power at the plate.

Game 1: Brookwood 7, Southland 1.
Southland scored their only run of Game 1 in the Top of the 1st. It was all Brookwood from there. Jacob Lauderdale hit a 2-run homerun in the Bottom of the 1st, Harper McLendon hit a 3-run bomb in the Bottom of the 2nd, and Josh McCaskill hit a solo shot in the Bottom of the 5th. The only run scored for Brookwood that wasn't from a homerun was Parker Lee scoring on Lauderdale's sacrifice fly in the Bottom of the 6th.

Lauderdale pitched masterfully for the win on the mound, scattering 6 hits and 1 walk across his 6 innings of work. The Coastal Carolina signee struck out 10 Southland Raiders and gave up zero earned runs in the process.

Game 2: Brookwood 2, Southland 1
Harper McLendon hit two solo homeruns in the day's second game, one in the Bottom of the 3rd and the other in the Bottom of the 5th, for his second and third homeruns on the day. It was the only offense the Warriors would need with Parker Mirick almost going the distance for a complete game. The senior pitched a stellar 6 2/3 innings allowing 6 hits with 2 walks, to go with 8 strikeouts and the lone earned run.

The two wins were the 7th and 8th in a row for the Warriors, who now sit at 9-3 on the season and 3-0 in Region heading into Spring Break. They will return to action next Friday at Wakulla High School in Crawfordville, Florida.
